Welcome to the Website of the British Society of Sports History an organisation founded by Richard Cox in 1982 to promote the study of sports history and especially the study of sport in British culture at home and abroad. Membership to the British Society of Sports History in open to all on payment of an annual fee, details of which can be found on this site. It is also possible to take out and renew your membership via the website, book a place on BSSH conferences, order BSSH publications and create your own forums on aspects of sports history. The original website was created in 1994. this is the 4th generation of the site, this time designed to be more secure (yes we get hackers just as most other sites) and interactive. Anyone can register with the site in order to access certain areas but paid up members of BSSH will be issued with a username and password (which they can change at a later date, if required, that will allow them to undertake some of the functions above. New members can join on-line (see Home-subscribe). The site also has a back office facility to allow BSSH Officers to maintain records, communicate with members, mount new pages, etc. We are always open to ideas and welcome your comments.
